The Transformation Center in Cordova and Nashville, Tennessee, offers comprehensive, holistic care to address eating disorders, addiction, and other psychiatric conditions. Since 2001, the skilled medical team has been treating women with eating disorders in the Memphis area. The staff now offers comprehensive psychiatric treatment at their facility for a variety of issues, including addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma.

Customized treatment plans for psychiatric conditions available at The Transformation Center include their Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) services. The therapists specialize in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) for treating substance abuse and addiction, grief and loss, and eating disorders like bulimia, binge-eating, and anorexia.

The Transformation Center staff also offers a variety of experiential group therapies, such as art therapy, yoga therapy, music therapy, and other holistic therapeutic practices. The compassionate therapists focus on improving the mental, physical, and emotional health of those struggling with a psychiatric illness or previous trauma.

Alisa is the Director of Business Development and Utilization Review at The Transformation Center. As a member of the management team, she oversees daily operations, compliance with Joint Commission standards, state licensing requirements and staff development. Susan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a cognate in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 1991. She worked at the University as a Social Worker with the UAP. It was a grant that focused on Vietnam Veterans exposed to Agent Orange. It was a national program in which she was able to assist them in accessing community services in their hometowns. Susan also worked in foster care helping parents work towards reunification. If that was not an option, she worked at getting children, who were in foster care, into their forever homes.

Susan lived in South Carolina until moving to North Carolina in 1997. She worked with Chamberlin Edmonds helping indigent patients obtain SSDI/Medicaid/Medicare. In 1999, she moved to Memphis, TN, to work at Youth Villages, as a family counselor. Later, she began working as an advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

She worked to help them transition from institutional living, to the freedom of living as a citizen in our Memphis neighborhoods. In 2003, she pursued her dream and enrolled in Nursing School at Dyersburg State Community College. She graduated from there in 2005 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Most of her nursing career has been in hospice and geriatric medicine. Currently, she is working full-time as a nurse case manager, helping chronically ill patients navigate the health system. On the weekends, she works for Transformation Center where she can use her past and present experiences to empower people to see their strengths and their ability to heal through life experiences.
