Life is a journey that brings to us many kinds of experiences. All of us wish for joy, love, peace and the fulfillment of our dreams. Unfortunately, life can also be painful, even traumatic. Overwhelming, terrifying, unexpected, hurtful, or life-threatening events are inevitable.
In fact, most people will experience at least one event during their lives that will put them at risk of developing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other symptoms, which occur in the aftermath of traumatic experiences.
Often, well meaning friends or family who tell us to “put it in the past”, “get over it”, and to “move on”, don’t understand that overwhelming grief and trauma are mental, emotional, and biological in nature. All of these aspects must be properly dealt with before real healing can take place, before we can find the peace that we long for and deserve.
The Transformation Center’s trauma programs combine individual and group therapy, focusing on healing the acute and long- term symptoms common in the aftermath of trauma including:
- Sleep Disorders
- Panic Attacks
- Startle Reflex
- Mental and emotional exhaustion
- Avoidance of reminders of trauma
- Increased use of drugs, alcohol
- Compulsive behaviors
- Self-destructive behaviors
- Eating disorders
- Emotional numbing
- Mood swings
- Obsessional “why’s?”
No matter what painful and traumatic life experience(s) you have, we are here to assure you that healing is possible.
